Team of Volunteer Medical Staff to Host a Fully-Functioning On-Site Emergency Room at the International Event
Miami, Florida, October 19th, 2015: OrthoNOW® Orthopedic Urgent Care Center is the official Medical Provider of City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami race scheduled to kick off at 7:25 am on October 25th in Bayfront Park. With more than 67 countries represented, City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami is an international event that provides a competitive arena for some of the most elite athletes in the world. As Official Medical Provider, OrthoNOW® will be on hand with a team of volunteer medical staff working in a fully functioning on-site emergency room to treat the athletes in the event of injury or dehydration during and after the competition.
“We are thrilled to once again count on our Official Medical Provider OrthoNOW®, which provides much needed specialized care to our athletes,” said Wilber Anderson, CEO of Miami Tri Events, City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami organizer. “Having the physicians and orthopedic subspecialists, critical care specialists from OrthoNOW® Orthopedic Urgent Care Center on hand will give the athletes peace of mind should they need fast, professional emergency response care,” Anderson concluded.
City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami expo is one of the largest in the history of the IRONMAN® 70.3 distance with a great variety of brands and stores showcasing the latest products in the sport industry. In addition to 3,100 participating athletes, 15,000 more are expected to participate over the course of the expo. Under its medical tent, OrthoNOW® will have a full staff of orthopedic subspecialists, critical care specialists all volunteering their time and expertise.
“OrthoNOW® is proud to be the Exclusive Medical Provider of IRONMAN® 70.3 for a fourth year,” said Dr. Alejandro Badia, Chief Medical Officer of OrthoNOW® Doral. “Last year, our team treated more than 350 athletes saving time, money and undue burden on the participating athletes, insurance providers and local hospitals. This is a triathlon, not a crossfit competition, and the issues of dehydration, hyperthermia, and cardiac arrhythmias are all relevant problems. Treating sports injuries is at the core of the specialized care that we provide to elite athletes like those participating in IRONMAN® but also to everyday sports enthusiasts and weekend warriors,” Badia concludes.
OrthoNOW®, the nation’s only network of specialized orthopedic urgent care centers, is focused on assessment and treatment of a range of orthopedic and sports injuries on a walk-in basis. These injuries include anything related to the foot, ankle, knee, hip, wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder and spine, in addition to pre-concussion testing. Every OrthoNOW® is equipped with digital imaging equipment and offers the latest techniques and treatments by a team of orthopedic physicians and orthopedic specialized ancillary providers including ARPWave Neuro Therapy which dramatically alleviates acute and chronic pain and expedites recovery time from surgery. OrthoNOW® recently launched the OrthoNOW® mobile app for iPhone and Android which features a revolutionary feature called On My Way NOW™ which allows patients to notify an OrthoNOW® Center that they are in route, the reason they’re coming and what time they expect to arrive. OrthoNOW®’s flagship center is in Doral Florida, with additional centers slated to open in Florida, Georgia and other locations.
