How PRP Works

A small sample of your blood is drawn and processed to concentrate the platelet-rich plasma. The PRP is then injected into the injured or painful area to support your body’s natural healing response.

Risks & Complications

PRP is generally considered low risk. Because it is made from your blood, serious adverse reactions are rare. Possible side effects include temporary pain or soreness at the injection site, infection, bruising, or swelling. Serious complications are very uncommon. As with any treatment, outcomes vary by individual. Ask your provider if you have questions.

Aftercare

Mild discomfort for a few days is common. Cold compresses may help. You may be advised to avoid strenuous activity or medications like NSAIDs for a short time. Follow your provider’s aftercare plan carefully for the best results and faster recovery. Return to normal activity gradually and as your pain level is right for you.

Telehealth is a way to connect with a healthcare provider through video or phone – avoiding/delaying the need to come into the clinic.
At OrthoNOW, telehealth lets you speak with an orthopedic-trained provider from the comfort of home. It’s great for injury follow-ups, reviewing test results, or getting expert advice on pain or movement issues.

All you need is

  1. A device with a microphone & camera – such as a smartphone, computer, or tablet/iPad
  2. A strong WiFi or mobile/cellular connection

During a telehealth visit, your provider will review any available imaging or records, ask detailed questions about your symptoms, and guide you through movement tests on camera.
While some conditions do require an in-person exam, many can be accurately assessed remotely, especially follow-ups or straightforward issues. If we think you need to come in, we’ll help schedule the right next step.
