With close to 6,000 attendees, the eMerge Americas Techweek concluded Tuesday with organizers and attendees lauding the convention that drew tech innovators and investors from throughout the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America.
From May 2-6, attendees representing start-ups and businesses and tech enthusiasts gathered at the Miami Beach Convention Center for what is expected to become an annual fixture in the city to help cement South Florida as an international tech hub. The convention touted more than 200 participating companies and 115 start-ups this year. OrthoNOW, South Florida’s only Orthopedic Urgent Care Center, hosted a networking social on Sunday on Marcos Island in Miami prior to the events official kick-off, which included OrthoNOW’s leadership, franchise owners and other area VIPs. Additionally, Dr. Alejandro Badia, CEO and Chief Medical Officer of OrthoNOW, a featured panelist, also participated in a discussion on the present state of medical tourism amidst calls to lower health care costs. Technology has been a driving force in the influx of patients to cities like Miami where patients travel for medical care to centers of excellence.
