Team of Volunteer Medical Staff to Host a Fully-Functioning On-Site Emergency Room at the International Event
Miami, Florida, October 23, 2013: OrthoNOW™ Orthopedic Urgent Care Center is the official Medical Provider of City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami race scheduled to kick off at 7:25 am on October 27th in Bayfront Park. With more than 58 countries represented, City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami is an international event that provides a competitive arena for some of the most elite athletes in the world. As Official Medical Provider, OrthoNOW™ will be on hand with a team of 25 volunteer medical staff working in a fully functioning on-site emergency room to treat the athletes in the event of injury or dehydration during and after the race.

City Bikes IRONMAN® 70.3 Miami expo is one of the largest in the history of the IRONMAN® 70.3 distance with a great variety of brands and stores showcasing the latest products in the sport industry. In addition to 3,000 participating athletes, 10,000 more are expected to participate over the course of the expo. Under its medical tent, OrthoNOW™ will have a full staff of orthopedic subspecialists, critical care specialists all volunteering their time and expertise including 3 Physician Assistants, 6 Registered Nurses and 6 Medical Assistants.

This is a triathlon, not a crossfit competition, and the issues of dehydration, hyperthermia, and cardiac arrhythmias are all relevant problems. Treating sports injuries is at the core of the specialized care that we provide to elite athletes like those participating in IRONMAN® but also to everyday sports enthusiasts and weekend warriors,” Badia concludes.
