“MiMo” is an abbreviation for “Miami Modernist architecture.”
It’s a kind of architecture that came to be in the southern part of Florida in the years that followed the war. People who focus on Miami Beach and Miami resorts that were constructed after the 1930s’ Great Depression may notice MiMo elements everywhere they turn.
MiMo is a lot more than just the name of a renowned architectural approach that has been in existence for many years at this point. It’s also the name of a chic Miami community.
It’s a neighborhood that has been the subject of many discussions in recent times. The MiMo district, perhaps surprisingly enough, hasn’t had fashionable status for too long. It used to be an ignored place that was characterized mostly by architecture that was shabby. Preservationists, however, noticed all of the promise that was hidden in the businesses that made Biscayne Boulevard come to life. The street was full of eateries and motels that had the MiMo architectural flair.
There are quite a few architectural staples in the MiMo district that make it such a gem in Miami.
Vagabond Motel has a fifties vibe and is known for its airy courtyard and sparkling outdoor swimming pool.
Motel Bianco is a MiMo masterpiece that’s optimal for people who are in need of lodging who do not want to spend significant sums of money. The design scheme at Motel Bianco is nostalgic. It features a courtyard that has a tropical vibe that’s ideal for simply hanging out and basking in the gentle and warm glow of the Miami sun. It’s a gated structure that’s just a short stroll away from the action in the MiMo district.
The New Yorker Boutique Hotel is a favorite among locals due to its bright neon sign. It’s a gem among people who appreciate Art Deco concepts. It’s a brief stroll away from an abundance of local dining establishments and boutiques. Getting to different communities in Miami from the New Yorker Boutique Hotel isn’t hard, either. It simply involves a fast cab trip. Fans of this Boutique Hotel often can’t get enough of its swimming pool or outdoor lounge section.
Near these hotels, many establishments have recently opened near these hotels that offer different products or services and that help the MIMO community and its visitors to be more connected and satisfy their needs by having banks, restaurants, cafes, hairdressers, orthopedic clinics, and they are growing rapidly every day.
People who want to slow down can head to Morningside Park in the MiMo district. It’s a terrific spot for fans of greenery. It’s ideal for people who are keen on water sports, hiking trails, basketball and tennis. Kids who visit can hang out at its playground.
